Different types of braces

One of the great things about a growing demand for straight teeth is that it has been met by an impressive range of different braces for patients to choose from. So, whether you want a hidden brace or perhaps one that you can take in and out, we’ll most likely have a brace to suit.

We’re proud to offer our patients a wide range of different braces, so together we can find the one that’s right for you. Not every brace is suitable for every patient, which is one of the reasons we offer complimentary no-obligation consultations*. However, if you’re not quite ready to come and see us, here’s an overview of the different braces available at Sensu in the meantime.

Fixed braces

Fixed train track braces are still going strong today, and they’ve only got better with age. The brackets have got smaller and instead of using elastic bands to hold the wire in place, we can now use convenient sliding clips. These help to make your appointments faster, they create less friction and they are easier to keep clean. While fixed braces aren’t the most discreet option, they’re great at straightening teeth and have been tried and tested for decades.

Clear fixed braces provide all the benefits of a fixed brace in a more discreet package. Instead of metal brackets they feature clear or tooth-coloured brackets and sometimes tooth-coloured wires, too. This helps them to blend in discreetly with your smile. One potential disadvantage, though, is that some clear braces can be susceptible to staining, so you may want to be careful about what you eat and drink during your treatment.

Clear bracesClear aligners

Clear aligners straighten teeth using custom-made removable aligners. You’ll be given a series of aligners to wear that are designed to gently exert pressure on your teeth, moving them little by little. They’re very discreet and a popular choice among our patients. So much so that we have transformed over 4,500 smiles using Invisalign – one of the most well-known clear aligner systems.

Lingual braces are an ingenious answer to the growing demand for ‘invisible’ braces – take a fixed brace and attach it behind the teeth! Lingual braces are completely hidden from sight and they’re the most inconspicuous brace we offer. The back surfaces of your teeth are less uniform, so lingual braces are usually custom-made to fit your teeth. This provides your clinician with precise control and you with fantastic results.

Gold braces

Lingual braces are also available in gold! Gold braces not only look great (albeit behind your teeth) but they’re also perfect for anyone who suffers from a nickel allergy.
