Clear braces in London
Clear braces feature inconspicuous clear – or sometimes tooth-coloured – ceramic brackets, which blend in with your teeth, providing a less obvious alternative to metal braces.
They work in much the same way as traditional fixed braces, using a thin wire to gently move your brackets and teeth. During your treatment we’ll change the wire periodically to keep your teeth gently moving in the right direction.
While clear braces aren’t as discreet as alternatives like lingual braces and removable aligners, they’re extremely good at straightening teeth. The combination of fixed brackets and wires gives us complete control over the movement of your teeth, allowing us to treat complex conditions such as severe crowding and bite problems.
The latest clear ceramic braces feature self-ligating brackets, which use a sliding clip to hold the wire in place instead of elastic bands. The benefits of these brackets are that appointments are usually quicker, and your brace will be easier to keep clean and fresh.
Most importantly, self-ligating braces create less friction, so we can move your teeth using lighter forces. They can also gently widen the arch of your smile, allowing us to treat some cases of crowding without removing any teeth.
