Closing gaps with dental bonding

Closing gaps with dental bonding

Do you love the idea of a straighter smile but don’t want to commit to getting braces? Did you know that composite bonding can fill in the gaps between your teeth, creating a beautiful smile in a single treatment?

Why choose composite bonding?

Composite bonding is an excellent option if you are looking to close the spaces between your teeth and make your smile more symmetrical in a short space of time.

During the treatment, we apply a tooth-coloured resin directly on top of your existing teeth to enlarge the tooth surface. We can completely close a gap or create a more subtle effect by reducing it. Bonding can also help to repair chips, disguise blemishes and improve the contours and shape of teeth.

Best of all, treatment is quick – often completed in a single session – and pain-free. Compared with other options like braces or veneers, bonding can be a cost-effective way to align your teeth in the short-term. It achieves natural looking, hard-wearing results with no specialist upkeep, and the procedure is completely reversible if you ever change your mind.

How does composite bonding work?

First, we thoroughly clean your teeth and check them for signs of damage or decay that will need to be removed before we can apply the composite resin.

Then we closely match the resin to the shade of your existing teeth, and we are ready to begin. Whitening treatments won’t have the same effect on the resin we use, as on your teeth, so we recommend that you whiten your teeth before going ahead with dental bonding. We include complimentary home teeth whitening with bonding packages of four or more teeth.

Our skilled cosmetic dentists in London will close any gaps between your teeth and sculpt the resin to create your perfect smile. Anything from pristine and perfect to a more natural look is possible. Once you’re happy with the results, we harden the resin using a blue light and give your pearlies a final polish.

Your results will be ready for you to show off the very same day.

Are there any alternative options?

Composite bonding doesn’t last forever and there are other options that can be more long-lasting. Veneers and crowns are restorative treatments that are more durable and with proper care can last for a decade or more.

However, these treatments require the removal of enamel and so they’re not reversible. The benefits of these longer lasting solutions are often (but not always) outweighed by their higher cost and more invasive process, and no matter how well a crown or veneer is looked after, sooner or later it will need replacing.

Composite bonding will increase the surface area of your teeth, so braces may be more suitable for you if you don’t want your teeth to appear wider.

Orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign, clear fixed braces and lingual braces are an excellent long-term solution for closing gaps between teeth. Although braces are not a quick fix, if you wear your retainers, your results should last forever.

There are so many treatment options available now that there’s something for everyone. Every patient is unique, and it’s for that reason that we offer a complimentary 45-minute consultation where you can discuss your needs and find out which treatment would be best for you.
