Invisalign is the ground-breaking brace that’s responsible for straightening over 6 million smiles. When it launched in 2000, it turned orthodontics on its head and completely transformed the way we move teeth.
Gone are fixed brackets and wires. Instead, this clever brace uses a series of removable aligners to gradually and gently move your teeth into the desired position. Better still, the aligners are completely transparent, so they’re really inconspicuous – even up close.
How does Invisalign work?
Each aligner should be worn for two weeks, before you move onto the next one in the series: gradually moving your teeth little-by-little until they reach their final position. Along the way we’ll keep a close eye on your progress to make sure everything is moving correctly and in the right direction.
For the best results it’s important to wear your aligners for between 20 and 22 hours a day – just take them out for eating, drinking and to brush and floss your teeth. Luckily for you, this means you can continue to enjoy all your favourite foods throughout your treatment, as well as keep on top of your oral hygiene routine: ensuring a healthy, beautiful end result.
As well as being safe and convenient to wear Invisalign can also achieve fantastic results. Actress Katherine Heigl and Supermodel Gisele Bundchen both have it to thank for their show-stopping smiles. Closer to home in London, our own patients have been delighted with their confident new smiles courtesy of Invisalign, including Princess who can been seen here reflecting on her treatment.
What can Invisalign help with?
Here are some of the problems we can treat using this multi-talented brace:
- Crowded and crooked teeth
- Wide spacing between teeth
- Crossbites – where one or more of your upper teeth bite on the inside of your lower teeth
- Under bites – where your lower teeth sit in front of your upper teeth
- Deep bites – where your upper teeth overlap your bottom teeth (some overlap is desirable)
Thanks to continued research and development, Invisalign keeps getting better and better. We’re now able to treat more malocclusions (incorrect positioning of the teeth) than ever before. But if your problem is very complex, you may be more suited to lingual braces or clear fixed braces.
London’s #1 provider
We’re proud to have straightened over 4,500 smiles with Invisalign, and we’re currently the top provider of Invisalign in London and the UK. Our clinical director Dr Krupal Shah is an accredited Diamond Provider and one of the top 50 providers in Europe.
Not every provider will have the experience and confidence to take on complex cases, and some only treat a handful of patients each year. So if you’ve been told that you’re not suitable for aligner treatment we’d be delighted to see you for a complimentary* second opinion.

Invisalign® before and after
While they’re not invisible, they’re very inconspicuous. In most cases you’ll be able to have conversations with friends and family without them even realising that you’re wearing your aligners.
You may have a slight lisp at first, but you’ll quickly get used to your aligners and should be talking clearly and confidently within a few days.
Invisalign has been designed with your comfort in mind using ‘transparent polycrystalline alumina’ – a clear, smooth material that incidentally was designed by NASA. It also has the benefit of having no metal wires or brackets, which can sometimes cause discomfort at the beginning of treatment.
You need to wear your aligners for around 20 to 22 hours a day, but you can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing and contact sports.
Invisalign attachments are small tooth-coloured buttons. In some cases we attach them to your teeth to help us move them in a particular direction.
Treatment starts from £2,500, which can be split into affordable monthly payments. If you have mild crowding, you may be suitable for Invisalign Express, which starts from £1,500.
No brace is suitable for everyone, but you’ll be pleased to hear that Invisalign can be used to straighten the majority of mild to moderate cases. You can find out if Invisalign is right for you during a free no-obligation consultation.
If you misplace one of your aligners, get in touch with us as soon as you can. In the meantime you can wear an aligner from your previous set to stop your teeth moving too far out of line. Sometimes we might suggest that you move straight to your next set of aligners.
Invisalign aligners are made out of transparent polycrystalline alumina (TPA), which was originally developed by NASA for missile tracking! Its smooth and transparent properties make this material an excellent choice for invisible braces.
