Stephen graduated in dentistry from University College Cork in the Republic of Ireland.
He began his UK dental career in Scotland where he worked initially in general dental practice and more laterally for several years in the hospital-based specialties of oral surgery, oral and maxillo-facial surgery, oral medicine, oral and maxillo-facial radiology and paediatric dentistry.
During this time Stephen developed an interest in orthodontics as a result of which he undertook training in orthodontics, initially over three years in Newcastle in the North of England to reach specialist level and subsequently over an additional two years in Birmingham, one of the four cleft and craniofacial centres in the UK, to consultant level.
Stephen is currently a consultant orthodontist in Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS foundation trust where he provides complex multi-disciplinary care for patients, and teaching and training for post-graduate orthodontic specialist trainees.
