How long does Invisalign® treatment take?

How long does Invisalign take

We’re often asked by patients ‘how long does Invisalign take?’. While we can answer this question easily on a case-by-case basis it’s more difficult to provide a general response.

That’s because every case is different. For some patients we may be moving just one or two teeth. While for others we could be correcting severe crowding or improving the way teeth bite together,

For an accurate time frame, your best option is to come and see us for a free consultation*. In the meantime, here is some information on the average treatment times for Invisalign.

How long does Invisalign® take to straighten teeth?

If you have very mild crowding or orthodontic relapse, you may be suitable for Invsialign Express. This speedy version of Invisalign works just like the original brace, but it only uses seven sets of aligners, each worn for two weeks. Some further refinement might be needed, but treatment can be finished in just 14 weeks.

Moderate crowding can usually be straightened in around 9 to 18 months. While more complex problems can take slightly longer.

One of the great things about Invisalign is that your treatment is carefully planned using innovative 3D treatment planning software. This computer software shows us how your teeth should move and gives us a very accurate idea of how long your treatment should take.

Is Invisalign® quicker than fixed braces?

Typically, the speed of Invisalign treatment is fairly comparable to fixed braces. If anything, it can be slightly slower to achieve certain tooth movements. As the saying goes ‘good things come to those who wait’ and orthodontic treatment shouldn’t be rushed.
