Explore Buckingham Palace

It is undoubtedly one of the most iconic sights in the UK, and every year, while the Royal Family enjoy their summer holidays, Buckingham Palace opens its doors for us to explore.

In the last five years, Buckingham Palace has hosted some of the UK’s most celebrated events, including the Royal Wedding of Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Kate Middleton, as well as the Diamond Jubilee, as well as welcoming Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. It also played a central part in the 2012 Olympics and was the part of the closing stage of the British part of the 2014 Tour de France.

Buckingham Palace is one of the world’s few remaining working royal palaces, making it an unmissable attraction, whether you’re a tourist or a native Londoner.

Now its doors are open for you to come in and explore its lavishly extravagant State Rooms and experience an iconic part of British culture. The State Rooms contain many artefacts such as paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Canaletto and Vermeer, as well as sculptures by Canova and Chantrey, and furnished throughout with some of the most exquisite English and French furniture in the world.

Audio guides make everything more fun, Buckingham Palace is no exception. Their audio guide is free and has a welcoming message from Prince Charles himself.

Each year, the Palace also hosts a special exhibition, and this year’s exhibition, A Royal Welcome, focuses on how the 775-room palace prepares for an official visit, including all the behind-the-scenes work and preparations, from the secrets of the royal kitchens, to the polishing of the porcelain.

Tickets are a very reasonable £20.50 and the Palace is open until the 27th of September, so make sure you head down.
