Alternatives to train track braces

Train track braces make light work of straightening teeth, but unfortunately they’re not the most stylish of accessories. Associations with Ugly Betty and awkward teens mean that very few relish the prospect of months of treatment.

We could tell you that you’ll soon get used to them, or that some people consider them en vogue, but we appreciate that for some patients they’re simply not an option. That’s okay though, because we can offer you alternative braces:

Clear braces

Clear fixed braces work just like train tracks, only they’re clear or sometimes tooth-coloured. This means that you get all the benefits of a fixed brace in a less conspicuous package.

Clear braces are a great option because they offer precise control and can be used to treat mild to complex cases. However, while they’re undeniably more discreet than metal train tracks they will still be visible to friends and family.

Lingual braces

If you’re looking for the ultimate ‘invisible’ brace why not let us attach your brace to the inside of your teeth? Lingual braces are another reinvention of train track braces.

Just like train track braces they feature brackets and wires, but instead of putting them on show, we discreetly fit them to the lingual (tongue) side of your teeth.

Invisalign®

If you’re keen to avoid a fixed brace altogether, why not consider clear, removable aligners. In recent years Invisalign has grown to be our most popular brace and it’s not hard to see why.

It’s virtually invisible and our patients love how little it interferes with their lifestyle. Simply remove your aligners temporarily to continue enjoying your favourite foods and drinks throughout your treatment.

Inman Aligner™

The Inman Aligner is another removable brace and can straighten teeth in just 6 to 18 weeks. It uses two ‘aligner bows’, which fit either side of your teeth and work to gently squeeze them into position.

It’s designed to work on the front teeth and is best suited to mild cases. It’s also one of our most affordable orthodontic treatments, with prices starting from just £995.
